Interested in strengthening your business through
profit?
If so, have you ever considered your
company's involvement with the community as an avenue for
corporate success?
-> Does your company utilize a corporate
giving (or community investment) program to direct its
financial contributions and oversee employee volunteerism? Is it
meeting its objectives?
-> Are the donations and sponsorships of
non-profits and their charitable efforts being properly managed?
Are they leveraged for value for both the business and the charity?
-> Would you like your staff to
enhance their skills?
-> Is the time you spend on reviewing requests,
attending meetings and making donations keeping you
from focusing on your job and business's growth?
-> Are you and your staff continually
looking to generate more leads?
-> Do you seek opportunities to create
greater public awareness and recognition?
We can help you reach your goals!
Schedule a complimentary
meeting to discuss how the creation (and management)
of an effective community investment program can considerably enhance
your business.

Skills-based volunteerism achieves results for
non-profits and businesses
Skills-based volunteerism has been around for ages,
beginning primarily with pro bono work within the legal sector. In recent
years, it has played an increasingly key role throughout the
corporate sector.
According to the 2009 Deloitte IMPACT Study,
skills-based volunteerism can best be described as:
- Volunteerism
which uses skills, experience, talents or education. Impacts
corporations, organizations and individuals. Uses existing
skills and develops new ones
- Volunteerism
which finds the intersection of high impact skills that match
with characteristics needed by local nonprofits.
- Individuals
who volunteer their skills or talents or experience to support
a nonprofit project or organization.
Non-profit organizations are highly driven in
realizing their social missions, but they are often faced with business
issues that hands-on volunteering cannot address and that financial
contributions often cannot meet.
Skills-based volunteering is rapidly gaining
recognition as a powerful driver of social impact and business
value.

Volunteerism - Where & How to Start
...tips for Northern Nevadans...
There are countless benefits associated with community
volunteerism. From improving one's health to positioning
organizations for growth, the impact of "giving back" or
"making a difference" can have is significant. There's
one dilemna, however...how does someone
start volunteering and where does he/she go for direction.
Nevada's very low rate (ranked 50th in the US) of
20.6% volunteerism is in dire need of improvement. When
compared to the national average (26.8%) or even our next door
neighbors (California 24.6%, Oregon 33.9%, Idaho 35.7%, Utah 45.4%,
and Arizona 24.8%), we provide far less voluntary support to our
local communities. The time is now to roll up our sleeves and lend
our hands, passions, and ideas to local charitable efforts.
For many, taking the first step is very difficult.
Determining which organization to select, how to approach it, how
much time to offer and in what capacity, and when to make the
initial contact...can be stressful, uneasy, intimidating and, to a
degree, frightening.
