Events & Projects to Consider
Â
This page is dedicated to projects within the PDS family of professional and charitable organizations. You’re invited to learn more about these efforts.
Reno-Tahoe Odyssey (www.renotahoeodyssey.com)
The fifth running of the Odyssey will take place on May 29-30, 2009. It is a long wandering. A relay run ideally suited for teams of 12 runners on a 178 mile course. Starting in Downtown Reno along the Truckee River. Traveling through the Sierra Nevada mountains and along the shores of Lake Tahoe. Circling back through the Northern Nevada high desert to where you began in Reno. Over 1,500 runners are expected to run and travel through Reno, Boca, Truckee, Tahoe City, Homewood, Camp Richardson, South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Virginia City, Sparks and finally, Reno. If you do business in any of these towns, exposure to 60% locals and 40% out of towner couldn’t be better.
Children’s Television Program
If you’re looking to invest in an product that will generate a return far sooner than what’s held in your existing investment portfolio, I have an opportunity for you. Production is ready; distribution channels have been secured; and, the time is perfect. A solid investment and an amazing and fun educational venue for young children. Call or email me for the link to the website and additional information.
Sports & Wellness Facility
I’ve played wallyball since 1986 and am happy to be associated with Mr. Wallyball, himself, and his team at Jogo (www.jogotime.com). They’re currently raising capital investment dollars to construct the largest indoor sport court project around. The Reno center consists of 18 jogo courts that each offer a multitude of indoor sports, executive, medical and retail office space, a full service restaurant, a 1,000 seat special events arena and a limited service hotel. The center’s administration, building operations and ecommerce will be managed by web based technology called jogotime. I want the project to get finished so I can start playing smashing perfectly placed sets! Call me for more information.
Travel for Community
If I told you that I could save you money on your next travel engagement (flight, hotels, cruises, etc.) and, at no extra cost, direct money to the community, would you believe me? Go to www.travelforcommunity.com and check it out. You’ll find easy searching, better prices and convenient purchasing. Book a trip and help the community…great combo.
Young Professional Leadership
The Second Annual Reno Tahoe Young Professionals Network Leadership Summit brings together over 300 Greater Reno-Tahoe business professionals to “Make the Grade” in their personal and professional lives. Scheduled for November 7, 2009 the Summit’s focus will be on the continuum of learning and connecting to the community. Through learning and connecting with the community young professionals will become more successful in all aspects. We lured Darian Heyman, Executive Director of the CraigsList Foundation to be our keynote speaker. Great guy and perfect leader from whom YPN members can learn a great deal. The 20 Under 40 Awards will take place following the leadership workshops and community organization engagement, as coordinated by the Pebble Project. Check out www.renotahoeypn.com for more information. Sponsorships are available right now.
Support Your Environment
Nevada EcoNet (www.nevadaeconet.org) is coordinating two of its signature events right now. First, we have the 20th Annual Pinecone Ball on November 17, where we’ll celebrate another successful year and recognize Northern Nevadan environmental leaders. And second, we are planning the 21st Annual Earth Day for April 19, 2009. Depending on weather (pray for warmth), we expect to attract between 5,000-10,000 people, who will enjoy six bands, how-to workshops, business expo, environmental vendors and a children’s area. Sponsorships are available for both. Call/email me or call EcoNet directly at 775-323-3433.
Help Cancer-stricken Families
The Angel Kiss Foundation (www.angelkissfoundation.org) is planning their annual river festival. The event will take place on June 20, 2009. Angel Kiss is an organization which provides financial and emotional support to families of children being treated for cancer. The Foundation has supported 138 families to the tune of over $550,000. The event’s proceeds will be distributed directly to families who need help covering their travel, lodging, housing and other necessary costs as their children are treated. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
Participate in Reno’s Greatest Event
Plans for the annual Pops on the River are underway. Coordinated by the Reno Philharmonic Guild, this event filled Wingfield Park with nearly 2,000 partygoers. Exactly 162 tables were judged for their creativity and enthusiasm, making this event like no other. Proceeds from the event support the Reno Philharmonic, particularly its youth orchestra programs. Sponsorships are available and encouraged as the who’s who of business and philanthropy convene in one location at one time in a very social atmosphere. Visibility is high. Call/email me for more information.
